2015 BETTY MITCHELL AWARD NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED!

Excellence shines through as nominations honour a diverse group of companies

Today, the Betty Mitchell Awards Board of Directors is pleased to announce nominations for the 2015 Betty Mitchell Awards, celebrating outstanding achievement in professional theatre in Calgary.

The 87 nominations across 17 categories include 16 companies and 54 distinct productions. Richard Lam, Chair of the Bettys Board of Directors, remarked,

“It is such an amazing statement on the quality of work being performed by all the Bettys-eligible companies that 16 individual organizations across a wide spectrum have been nominated. Whether it’s comedy, drama, musical, or defies genre, excellence in theatre is not something that is the exception in Calgary – it’s the rule – and we are proud to celebrate their achievements.”

Three special adjudicated awards will also be presented at the 2015 Betty Mitchell Awards: the Duval Lang Theatre for Young Audiences Award (a $2000 cash prize) presented in conjunction with Quest Theatre, the Greg Bond Memorial Award (a $1000 cash prize, honouring Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theatre in Calgary), and the Dean Ott/ Debbie Boult Award (honouring Outstanding Achievement in Technical Production).
